3 Chelsea Youngsters Who Could Play Against West Brom

Share

Chelsea might be in the mood to give a few youngsters a chance to play in their next game away to West Bromwich Albion. The Blues have already wrapped up the title and playing their best players in inconsequential matches doesn’t really make sense. For once in a long time, the Chelsea youth system has produced quite a few players to keep an eye out for, in the last game against Liverpool, Chelsea did give a start to the young Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who did impress during his run in the game. We look at 3 youngsters who could start for the Blues in their next Premier League game.

1. Ruben Loftus-Cheek

If he started a big game against Liverpool and did well, he surely can do it again when he faces West Bromwich Albion. Ruben is often deployed as a deep lying playmaker, something of a mould of Cesc Fabregas but plays much deeper in midfield than the creative Spaniard. Loftus-Cheek is only 19-years-old, but a lot of big things are expected from the England U19 international, he could be given a second start in as many games and not many would be shocked if he does impress once again for Chelsea.

2. Dominic Solanke

The 17-year-old Englishman was in the news a few weeks ago for his goal scoring ability for the youth and reserve team, he did so well in the teams that Jose Mourinho put him into the senior squad for training and learning and honing his skills. Solanke can play as a striker, a winger or an attacking midfielder, showing his versatility in this day and age of adaptable Premier League players. Solanke did make an appearance for Chelsea in the Champions League and he became the youngest player to debut for the club against Maribor. He will be looking to get a chance to play in a Premier League game, hopefully against West Brom.

3. Nathan Ake

It isn’t every day that a young defender can be compared to a Dutch legend, but Nathan Ake seems to be in line for the highest praise, he has been compared to Ruud Gullit, who also made his name playing for Chelsea. Ake is a versatile defender who can play as a centre back, left back or as a defensive midfielder and at 21-years of age, he isn’t the youngest player in the young brigade at Chelsea but surely should get a chance to show the whole world how good he really is. Fingers crossed, he gets a chance to showcase his talent in the Premier League this weekend.
