Why This 27-year Old Still Has Lots To Offer For Arsenal And They Shouldn’t Let Him Leave

Every club is trying their best to add as much quality to their current squad as possible, prior to the start of the new campaign. Even Premier League outfit Arsenal are looking to do the same, after Arsenal Wenger’s side ended the previous campaign without a single trophy. However, it is always not just important to buy new stars, but to keep hold of the existing ones as well, which Arsenal have struggled to do at times in the past when it was quite important for them.

Further, few stars have already left the Emirates and some others are planning to leave in the upcoming days due to which the French manager will look to add more players to his current squad.

However, one player whose loss might impact the Gunners in a major way is second choice keeper David Ospina, who fell down the pecking order last term, since the arrival of Petr Cech from west London rivals Chelsea.

Due to this, he has barely seen any action in the recently concluded campaign and was merely given the first team play, during the injury to the veteran keeper. This has frustrated the 27 year old Colombian international, who did not do too much last term and apart from the first few games, was really good this time around as well.

Despite that, Wenger does not really have a choice as Cech is simply a better keeper due to various reasons, which makes Ospina only second best to him. On the other hand, Wojciech Szczesny has settled down in Rome and does not wish to return to England, with a permanent deal with AS Roma on the cards as per claims.

Arsenal boss will now have to be quite desperate and do everything in his power to keep hold Ospina, as he does not wish to lose both his star keepers. He will need Ospina in case Cech suffers an injury like he did last term or even needs to be rested.

Emiliano Martinez is one more option that the manager will have, though it is still not certain whether he will be willing to take the risk of trusting the 23 year old Argentine goalie. It becomes quite important to retain Ospina, in case the Poland international is all set to leave and will join the Serie A club.

Reports had suggested that Ospina himself was heading to Besiktas, who were keen on bringing him to Turkey and would make a lucrative offer to him. It will be interesting to see how Wenger responds to this, as he will surely need the ex Nice man on the bench, if he intends to actually win some major titles in the near future.
