2014/15 Premier League’s Best XI So Far Featuring Chelsea And Arsenal Stars

Goalkeeper

David De Gea (Manchester United)

David De Gea has been outstanding for his team this season. He has matured a lot as a goalkeeper and undoubtedly one of the finest keepers in the world let alone Premier League right now. Manchester United under Louis van Gaal has done fairly well and has performed much better compared to last season. The only problem with the current Manchester United side is that they do not have a quality defender. After Nemanja Vidic’s departure, the club has failed to find a fitting replacement who can stand as a towering defender in the back four. Also, van Gaal’s had initially implemented a back three strategy for his team, which resulted in United conceding way more goals than its nearest competitors. Had De Gea not performed, United would not have featured in the top four. Statistically, Southampton’s Fraser Forster has done a better job than the Spanish custodian, but by sheer performance David De Gea is way ahead than any other goalkeeper in the league.

Defenders

Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea)

Branislav Ivanovic is one of the most talented fullbacks in the Premier League right now. The 30-year-old is going strong for Chelsea and is one of the most trustworthy warriors in Mourinho’s camp. The Serb has been outstanding so far this season. Along with his defending skills, Ivanovic has sharpened his goal scoring abilities, which became a great asset to his team. A full-back overlapping and scoring goals is a great advantage to any team and Ivanovic has done his job with great zeal.

Martin Skrtel (Liverpool)

I know, this selection will raise the eyebrows of many, but Martin Skrtel is one of the finest center backs in the league right now. He has been the towering presence in Liverpool’s defense after Daniel Agger left the club in the beginning of this season. He has done his duties well so far and kept the Liverpool defense tight. His leadership quality and scoring ability are add-ons to the decision to select him in the best Premier League XI squad.

Jose Fonte (Southampton)

Jose Fonte’s livewire performance this season has brought him into limelight. Fonte has done impeccably well for his team Southampton, who features in the top four of the Premier League. Irrespective of being mere minnows, Southampton has conceded the least number of goals this season and the credit must go to the team’s defenders. Jose Fonte has played superbly so far and has helped his team to perform so well this season.

Gael Clichy (Manchester City)

This French defender came up to the limelight after a long time. His age suggests that he has slowly passed his prime, but surprisingly he is having one of the best seasons in his career. After joining Manchester City from Arsenal, Clichy had been neglected by the managers and Alexander Kolarov was favoured in the left-back position. But Clichy has come back strongly and is performing really at the top of his game.

Midfielders

Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)

Alexis Sanchez is arguably the best buy of this season in the Premier League. Sanchez has impressed everybody from the very beginning of his tenure at Arsenal. He is the team’s top scorer, he provided the highest number of assists and his work rate on the field is simply outstanding. He predominantly plays as a winger, but the Chilean has the ability to play the attacking role as per his team’s demand. After Wayne Rooney, he is the most versatile player in the Premier League right now.

Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea)

Jose Mourinho decided to rope in Cesc Fabregas after Barcelona decided to let him go this summer. As per contract terms, Arsenal had the first right over the player, but after the North-London club rejected the idea of buying the central midfielder, which Mourinho grabbed with both hands. Going by his playing ability and capability he was a bargain buy. Fabregas has done extremely well for his new club and he has lived up to the expectations by all means. He is among the top assists providers in the tournament and his work rate is also commendable. He has contributed a lot to his team’s overwhelming success in this season so far.

Nemanja Matic (Chelsea)

Nemanja Matic has been playing consistently well ever since joining Chelsea last January. He was bought for a nominal transfer fee and he has slowly grown into a brilliant central defensive midfielder. He compliments Cesc Fabregas well in the central midfield role. While Cesc is a creative central midfielder, Matic does the destructive job of blocking the opponent attackers. He has great physical ability and an asset to Chelsea FC.

Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

Well, yet another Chelsea FC player features on our list today and he is none other than the extremely talented winger Eden Hazard. He is tomorrow’s superstar and arguably the best player in the Premier League right now. He has pace, skill, dribbling ability, crossing ability and of course goal scoring knack. He plays brilliantly down the left flank of Chelsea, and his speedy moves often run tremors across the opponent’s defense. He has scored 9 goals so far and provided 5 assists in this season.

Strikers

Sergio Aguero & Diego Costa (Manchester City and Chelsea respectively)

These two forwards are the top goal scorers in the Premier League right now. Also, they are the prime attack force of their respective teams, Manchester City and Chelsea respectively. While Chelsea are at the top of the table with a comfortable lead, Manchester City features just behind them. Both Aguero and Costa have done a brilliant job for their respective sides and is undoubtedly the best forwards in the league right now.
