20 goals in 37 appearances – Everton should make a move for this £25million-rated Premier League veteran

Everton should definitely make the move for Jamie Vardy

According to the Mirror, Everton are ready to revive their interest in Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy. The English forward was dropped to the bench against West Ham United due to the apparent ongoing issues with manager Claude Puel (h/t Mirror).

Vardy is understood to be discontent with his current position at the club (h/t Mirror) and Everton manager Marco Silva should definitely capitalize on the situation and sign the striker.

Though aged 31, Vardy is still one of the most potent strikers in the Premier League and has proven his fitness time and time again. According to the report, he could cost the club up to £25million but Everton shouldn’t hold back given his pedigree in the league.

He ended last season with 20 goals in 37 appearances and has proven to be the focal point of this Leicester team. The Foxes will definitely be hesitant to part ways with their talisman after already seeing Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez switch allegiances in the summer. (Stats courtesy – Premier League)

But Everton are currently utilizing Richarlison as their striker due to Cenk Tosun’s inconsistency. The Toffees have looked impressive going forward and have scored a total of 15 goals but can increase their chances of finding the back of the net with Vardy around.

Vardy’s ability to stretch defenders and make early runs behind the backline is unrivalled in the Premier League. He would pose an ideal output for midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, who loves to pick the locks in the final third.

The 31-year-old is also extremely clinical in front of the goal and has proven to be a pest-like presence. Using his pace and energy, Vardy often daunts past his markers before coolly slotting the ball in the back of the net.

He has already picked up 3 goals and an assist in 6 appearances this season. Vardy has also averaged 2.5 shots per game in the league and though he is yet to hit top form after the turn of the year, there is no denying his quality.

The striker has also retired from international duty, meaning he can project all his energy into the Premier League. (Stats courtesy – Whoscored)

Marco Silva should definitely ensure he makes the move and does whatever he can to land the striker. At the age of 31, Vardy still has enough left in him to light up the Premier League but it won’t last too long. Hence, the manager must bring him in and get the most out of the striker before it is too late.
