2 Signings Following Nkoudou’s Arrival That Burnley Could Complete To Finish The Season In European Places

Two More January Signings Burnley Must Aim To Complete

Burnley have managed to impress a lot of people across the world with their scintillating displays this season. On the opening day, they beat defending champions Chelsea and were touted as one of the teams to watch out for. Sean Dyche has done commendable work at Turf Moor and that is evident from the fact that they broke into the top six despite being financially inferior to the ‘big clubs’. They are currently in 7th place and are 5 points behind 6th-placed Arsenal.

The Clarets still have a good chance of breaking into the top six by the end of the season but they will need reinforcements if they are to do so. With the January window up and running, this is the ideal time for Dyche to scan the market for fresh recruits.

Despite starting on a strong note, they are now without a win in their last 5 games and they cannot continue like this. To be fair, even a top ten finish will be satisfactory but given their initial form, there is no doubt that the club can aim a lot higher.

Hence, to fuel their aspirations of a higher-placed finish, Burnley will need to bring in some players to strengthen their weak areas. Although they are decent enough when it comes to scoring goals, the Clarets have conceded a lot lately. With that in mind, let’s take a look at two players Burnley should consider signing before the January window comes to an end.

Marc Roberts – Birmingham City

Burnley were linked with signing Roberts from Barnsley last January but the player eventually joined Birmingham. However, that might not rule out the possibility of the club renewing their interest in him. At 27 years of age, the player has decent experience for him to pool from.

Also, he does seem like a promising prospect since he has been in good form for Birmingham of late. A chance to play in the Premier League will undoubtedly grab his interest and Roberts is likely to serve as an additional central defender at Burnley, thus providing scope for squad rotation.

Matt Ritchie – Newcastle United

With Robbie Brady out of action, Burnley are in dire need of a new attacker and Matt Ritchie could prove to be a strong addition. They were also linked to signing Aaron Lennon from Everton but the fact is that Ritchie seems like a sturdier option in comparison. Granted, he has been inconsistent at Newcastle but he is lethal on his day. Dyche is known for bringing the best out of a lot of players and there is no reason why he cannot do the same for Ritchie if he were to join Burnley.
