Two Deals That Tottenham Need To Complete Before The Deadline Day This Summer

Tottenham Hotspur have been shockingly quiet in the transfer market this summer but they have finally added a player to the squad, in the form of Davinson Sanchez, who has joined Tottenham in a club-record £42m deal. Spurs lost Kyle Walker to Manchester City and are yet to replace him. But the Lilywhites are still weak in a couple of areas and Pochettino has little time to make sure that he finds the right players to solve such problems.

The transfer window has less than two weeks left before it comes to an end and Spurs need to get deals done quickly if they are to strengthen their side this summer. Here are two such deals that they need to complete before the deadline day.

Out

Kevin Wimmer

The Austrian defender is currently the fourth choice centre-back for Mauricio Pochettino, who has usually refrained himself from using Wimmer regularly. Though he is not too bad a defender, the 24-year old has not been consistent enough to establish himself in the first team under the Argentine and Spurs have already received offers for his services.

To add to it, the arrival of Davinson Sanchez will push Wimmer further down the pecking order and it is best for all involved, that the 24-year-old quits the club this summer in search of playing time. His sale will open up space for youngsters, also reducing the wage burden on the club.

In

Serge Aurier (PSG)

Probably the best fit for Pochettino in the current situation, the controversial Serge Aurier is one of the top transfer targets for Spurs this summer. The Ivory Coast international has issues with his Visa to travel to the UK but it is widely understood that it is a problem that can easily be solved. Manchester United were also linked with a move for the 24-year old but have not been able to land him.

Spurs lack a senior right-back in the squad, having sold Kyle Walker and lost Kieran Trippier to injury. Kyle Walker-Peters was decent against Newcastle but Tottenham cannot go into the European competitions with the youngster as their first choice. Aurier is the perfect solution to this problem in more ways than one. PSG’s Marauding right-back is as goods as Walker in attacking if not better. He is tailor-made for the English league and has the attributes that Pochettino usually loves in a defender. So surely, Tottenham Hotspur should do what it takes to land the PSG star this summer.
