One of the players that Steven Gerrard acquired after being named as the manager of Rangers, Ovie Ejaria recently terminated his loan contract with the club and returned to his parent team, Liverpool.
As per reports from Sky Sports, Steven Gerrard has since come out and conveyed to the fans and media that Ejaria has made the decision to leave Rangers due to footballing reasons.
Ejaria is an orthodox midfield player who is adept at carrying the ball and moving his team forward. His dribbling skills are fantastic while he also expertly controls the game in the midfield. Usually played in a central role, he’s also more than capable of playing on the flanks as he does have the pace and prowess to pull it off.
He would be an ideal addition to any team that needs a midfield pivot who can distribute and penetrate opposition lines while also acting as a midfield destroyer.
Here are two clubs who would benefit by signing the youngster on loan.
Aston Villa FC would be a good destination for Ovie as they look like a side with a lot of potential with missing quality in the midfield. The addition of Ejaria on the left-hand side of central midfield would turn them into a much more attacking side. Capable of performing even on the wings, he can easily step up and play in that position in case of an injury.
The Villains have also looked prone to counter attacks and having Ejaria in the midfield will be a useful tool in detecting and dealing with these. Capable of reading the play very well and technically adept, he would perfectly fit into this Villa side and with the likes of Jack Grealish and Tammy Abraham in front of him, the youngster is bound to prosper.
If Liverpool do agree on a loan deal with a premier league side, Burnley would be the best-suited club for him. They have a wealth of attacking midfield options in the likes of Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Steven Defour, Aaron Lennon and Jeff Hendrick.
The holding midfield position is one that has caused Burnley some trouble. With Jack Cork and Westwood as the only realistic options, Ejaria would be a welcome addition to Sean Dyche’s side. Burnley have been leaking goals recently and are only 2nd behind Fulham in terms of goals conceded, with 33 goals shipped in just 17 games.
Ejaria would help solidify the midfield and prevent counter-attacks while he can also help the team move the ball forward quickly. His dribbling skills will help this Burnley side build quickly from the back.
He can also control the pace of the game with his short passing. With willing runners on his either side (Lennon and Gudmundsson) and quality up front, Ejaria would strengthen Burnley and could be a key figure in helping them maintain their Premier League status this season.
