2 players Wolves should sign in January to secure a Europa League spot

Wolverhampton Wanderers are sitting 10th in the Premier League table after a decent start to the season.

Over the summer, manager Nuno Espirito Santo brought in a number of exciting talents to boost his Championship-winning squad. In order for Wolves to maintain their current status, they need to sign at least a couple of players in January.

Nuno should beef up his squad next month in order to bolster his team’s chances of qualifying for Europe. That said, here are two players Wolverhampton Wanderers should sign to secure a Europa League spot.

Adam Lallana (Liverpool)

If Wolves are to qualify for Europe, they need to be more ambitious in the forthcoming transfer window. Nuno must make a bold move for Liverpool outcast Adam Lallana.

Predominantly a No.10, Adam Lallana is capable enough to operate from the wings and central midfield. Injuries have ruined his once-promising career but now fit, there is no denying the quality he would add to the Wolves attack.

A technically-gifted and a tactically versatile player, Lallana is a fantastic passer of the ball and is also known for his vision and creativity. The England international is a composed finisher in front of the goal and his top Premier League experience could be handy for Wolves.

Due to the 30-year-old’s qualities, he would suit Nuno’s high-pressing style of play at Molineux. A quality attacker, Lallana would be a sensational signing for Wolves.

Mario Balotelli (OGC Nice)

According to a report from Calciomercato, OGC Nice manager Patrick Vieira has said that Mario Balotelli would not renew his contract with the club and is free to leave the club in January.

Mario Balotelli

That said, there won’t be a better chance for Wolves to lure away Balotelli to Molineux from Nice. The Italian striker’s last stint in the Premier League with Liverpool was forgettable but he enjoyed a fantastic spell at Manchester City. Judging that and his potential availability on a cut-price deal next month, Nuno should make a move for the 28-year-old.

Signing a Premier League proven player like Balotelli would give a massive boost to Wolves, while he’ll also add competition and cover for Raul Jimenez.

Blessed with a solid technique and positional awareness, Balotelli is a lethal finisher in front of the goal and his addition would certainly enhance the quality of Espirito Santo’s attacking arsenal.
