18 goals and 11 assists – Why this 24-year-old attacker could be a shrewd piece of business for Leeds

Why St Pauli striker Marvin Ducksch could be a good signing for Leeds United

Marcelo Bielsa is an absolutely fascinating appointment at Leeds United. He is, of course, a legend in the game and has inspired countless managers with his tactical tinkering. He pretty much created the 3-3-3-1 formation when he was managing Chile and Argentina.

However. he has had a very strange couple of few years, with the Lazio debacle and his bad run at Lille as the French outfit avoided relegation from Ligue 1 by just one point. But if he can recapture his managerial successes at either Marseille or Athletic Bilbao, then the Leeds fans are in for a treat.

But if Leeds want to fare well under Bielsa next season, then they must start doing their business in the ongoing transfer window. And it seems the Whites already have a list of targets they want to sign in the summer

Marvin Ducksch

St Pauli striker Marvin Ducksch, who had an excellent season on loan with 2. Bundesliga outfit Holstein Kiel, is on the radar of Leeds. The 24-year-old scored 18 goals in 33 league games for Holstein Kiel, and also managed to provide 11 assists.

Ducksch is a former Borussia Dortmund player and was once considered as one of the greatest prospects of the BVB academy system. He made his first-team debut for Dortmund in a DFB Pokal game against SV Wilhelmshaven in August 2013 under then manager Jurgen Klopp.

He made a total of eight appearances in all competitions for the German giants, scoring once and setting up one more before moving to St Pauli in the summer of 2016 in search of regular game time. However, Ducksch, who failed to hit the ground running at St Pauli, seems to have really found his form at Holstein Kiel after being given a proper run in the first XI.

It’s not the first time that Ducksch has pooped up on Leeds’ radar as the Championship outfit were linked with making a move for him in the January transfer window.

He could prove to be a shrewd signing from Bielsa as Leeds need goals to boost their promotion hopes next season. Kemar  Roofe was the club’s highest goalscorer last term with just 11 strikes to his name.
