Who Is This 17-Year-Old German Sensation That Chelsea Are Monitoring? Everything You Need To Know

Share

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea were in sublime form until the turn of the year and though the loss at the White Hart Lane in the first game of the New Year will have its effects, the manager will hope that his side can bounce back quickly with some decent performances this season. However, with the transfer window wide open, and Conte has also got an eye on the star players who could join the squad and one of those many names which have recently been linked is Germany’s young hotshot Jann-Fiete Arp.

The 17-year old attacker is one of the most highly rated players in Europe and is wanted by a host of clubs around Europe, including the likes of Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig for a move this January but Chelsea are adamant that they want their man this transfer window. So who is this new name on the radar and what will he add to the Premier League if he completes the move? Here is the scout report of the youngster wanted by the Blues:

Born in Wahlstedt near Schleswig-Holstein, Arp joined the local SV Wahlstedt at the age of three and did not take too much time to earn himself a name. At the age of 10, Arp joined HSV’s youth department and progressed rapidly into an important member of the academy at the club. He soon became a prolific goal scorer, scoring a number of goals in all the levels that he has represented his club and his country and is currently in terrific form for the HSV side in Bundesliga-B. His exploits have attracted interests from abroad as clubs are already convinced that he is the real deal.

With 16 goals in 12 games this season already, Arp is slowly also learning to be consistent and is already growing onto become a quality player for the German side. He is a prolific goal scorer who knows his way to the back of the net while his positions in the final third only make it easier for him to score goals even in crunch games. His shooting and passing abilities are his biggest strengths, yet, he is also equally adept at setting up his teammates on goal in the dangerous areas. He is a natural goal scorer who will always find himself in such positions and is a player who can grow on to become a top goal scorer in Europe.

He is also not afraid of any physical challenges that he might face at the highest level and he is a player who is usually full with confidence. However, he also has his own set of shortcomings. At his age, he is hardly a player who should be playing for a top side in Europe as the expectations on such young shoulder might see them wither. He is also a bit weak in the air making him a liability in the final third at times while his ability with his weaker left-foot is also questionable.

At his age, Arp has already gathered some much-needed publicity that will help him grow into a better player and his time at HSV is invaluable. He is still at the start of his career and he is advised to stay in his home country till he finds his strengths and weaknesses and grows into a player who can improve on them. A chance to play for Chelsea is always attractive but with the player finding a regular place in the domestic circuit in Germany, he is well advised to stick with the Bundesliga for at least another couple of years. In that time, he can surely turn into an even better player and can start making an impact straight away.
