According to a report in the Sun, Burnley are looking to sign Leeds United’s Mateusz Klich. The 29-year old had a fantastic season for the Elland Road side in Marcelo Bielsa’s first season at the club and it is normal that Burnley are looking at him as a target for the new Premier League season.
The Poland International was absolutely outstanding last season as he scored 10 goals and 9 assists from 50 appearances. Klich is also a very versatile player, capable of doing a job on the right flank, attacking midfield and as deeper midfielder if required.
For Bielsa, Klich played various roles, from centre-back to a deeper role in the midfield. He was ultimately made the deep-lying playmaker and has really flourished in that position since the switch.
Burnley have done admirably well to be where they are right now. Their stint a few years prior to promotion didn’t go to plan but they believed in Dyche and have been rewarded for keeping a long-term plan.
In the 2017/18 season, they made it to 7th place and they’ll be aware that they can still keep those sort of performances up next season.
They did have a poor start to the last season due to the extra games from the Europa League qualifier but that shouldn’t be a problem this season.
Sean Dyche can achieve Burnley’s goals only if he can retain a large squad and reinforce weak areas. Klich would perfectly fit the demands of Dyche.
Burnley play a 4-4-2 on most occasions and Klich played most of last season in a 4-1-4-1 system. Hence, there might be a few adjustments required but he definitely has the quality to play for a Premier League side.
He would add some much-needed ball-retention attributes to Burnley, which would be a great addition to what they already have.

He was an ever-present for Leeds last season and Burnley will be hoping he can be the same for them. It’ll be interesting to see if Klich will force the move or not as Leeds will need to hold onto him but with age not on his side, this might be an opportunity that might not come again.
