10 Amazing Pictures That Sums Up Chelsea’s First Half Of The Season

Share

It’s been a very wild run for the Blues and their fans so far, as they’ve been on a huge rollercoaster through most of this year, starting with an interim coach that tried to fix Jose Mourinho’s mess but miserably failed, to where they’re now, as the undisputable leaders of the English Premier League.

So, it’s that time of the year where we look back and see how they managed to get from where they were to where they are.

Chelsea announced Conte as their manager for the upcoming season

Roman Abramovich decided to make Antonio Conte their new manager for the upcoming season, stealing him from the Italian national team after his successful tenure with Juventus FC.

Starting with the right foot

The Blues earned a 2 to 1 victory over Slaven Bilic’s West Ham on their Premier League debut under Antonio Conte, showing some glances of greatness but with great concerns, mainly on the offensive end of the pitch.

Reinforcements arrive plus the return of Luiz

David Luiz came home as a deadline day transfer for Conte’s 3 men defence, finally sealing the team after the arrivals of Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina, N’Golo Kante from Leicester City, and Michy Batshuayi from Olympique Marseille

Liverpool thrashes Chelsea

After a great start of the season, Conte’s side struggled to continue their form and got thrashed by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at home.

Can’t beat contenders

Conte’s side was thrashed once again by title contenders, falling 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium against an inspired Arsenal team that made a fool out of them and raised huge concerns among the West London team, their fans and whether Conte was competent enough for the gig.

Back on track

After back to back losses, Conte changed his formation to a 3-4-3 scheme and started an amazing run to finally become Premier League leaders and shut the mouth of his detractors.

Superteam

The Blues earned a 5 to 0 victory at home against Everton and showed the world that they were more than ready to go back to the elite of the football world.

They’re still the leaders

Hazard sends a score past Manchester City’s Claudio Bravo, sealing a 3- 1 comeback at the Etihad Stadium and demonstrating to the world that they’re back for good, leading the Premier League table.

Conte celebrates

Antonio Conte celebrates after his team goes back on track with 11 consecutive wins, becoming the Premier League leaders at least until the end of the year.

Last Game of the year

Even after having a congested fixture pile-up, Chelsea ended their year on a great note, as they outnumbered Mark Hughes’ Stoke City at the Stamford Bridge. Cahill opened the scoring for the Blues, but the Potters responded just 9 minutes after the goal. Soon after the restart, Willian restored the lead for the Blues, but the Potters were spot on to draw the game level.

With that being done, it took Chelsea less than a minute to secure a lead and a late 85th-minute goal from Diego Costa was enough to seal the deal.

There’s no doubt it’s been a hell of a ride so far for Roman Abramovich ‘s team, and their current dominance over almost every single other Premier League side definitely makes them the frontrunners to take the trophy home this year after a nightmare of a season. Can they keep the pace?
