Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has landed a shot on predecessor Jose Mourinho by insisting it is ‘incredible’ Victor Moses was previously underestimated by the Blues.
The Nigerian international has been a revelation since taking up the right wing-back role in the Italian’s 3-4-3 system that has inspired the Blues to top the Premier League. Moses has started the last seven games in which the Londoner’s have been in supreme form winning their last seven, scoring 18 goals and conceding just 1.
Moses was overlooked by Mourinho and sent out on loan to West Ham last season, but Conte insists his quality was obvious from the moment he arrived at the club.
“I could see his potential from the first days of the summer training camp,” said the Italian. “I find it incredible that someone like him has been underestimated.”
In other news, Chelsea are reportedly targeting AS Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan again. The Blues failed to land the Belgium international in the summer despite making three separate bids for him. Nainggolan has since signed a new contract with Roma, tying him to the club until June 2020.
Although, there is encouraging news for the combative midfielder as they could set their sights and look to gain from incidents around the Italian capital and Conte is still hopeful he could land Nainggolan at Stamford Bridge.
Nainggolan had a bust-up with his boss Luciano Spalletti after being substituted in Sunday’s clash at Atalanta.
The 28-year-old was taken off after 86 minutes before Roma conceded a last-minute penalty to suffer a 2-1 defeat.
