Manchester City beat Everton 3-1 at Goodison Park to edge closer to securing the Premier League trophy for themselves. The game was done and dusted in the first-half as Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling let loose and scored some wonderful strikes to put City in the driver’s seat.
There was no way the Toffees could bounce back from that but they tried, and Yannick Bolasie managed to get one past Ederson Moraes after the break. However, that was not enough and City gleefully walked away with all 3 points.
Was helpless in dealing with Bolasie’s shot but he did well between the sticks and made some routine saves.
Kept Bolasie at bay for a good majority of the game and put in a solid shift in the right-back position.
Kompany maintained possession effectively and was one of the most solid defenders throughout the game.
He contributed more to the attack than the defence but in this game, it did not matter. He proved to be a really solid player for City yet again.
Played a role in the first goal and put in a decent shift at left-back.
His cross for Gabriel Jesus was quite impressive and De Bruyne once again showed why he is so important for the club.
Fernandinho has been City’s heartbeat this season and he won a lot of battles in the midfield area, contributing generously to the attack as well.
The midfield maestro was at it once again. He was involved in two goals and the way he controlled the game to dictate proceedings from the centre of the park was absolutely incredible.
His confidence continues to soar and he troubled the Everton defence. The goal was just the cherry on top for Sterling.
Jesus’ work-rate was solid and along with Sterling, he constantly caused trouble for the Everton defenders who looked rather harrowed.
Sane’s finishing was quite impressive and he played a key role in the second goal as well. In addition to that, he linked well with his teammates to cause a lot of troubles for Everton.
Brought in some much-needed calmness and control to the midfield.
Did the basics right and injected some freshness into the field.
Came on too late to make an impact.
