Wolves opinion: Nuno Santo looking to sign Rafael Camacho – Good move?

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with Liverpool youngster Rafael Camacho and are willing to make a £10m move, according to the Sun. Camacho is a 19-year-old winger from Portugal who joined Liverpool’s academy from Sporting Lisbon at the end of the 2015–16 season.

Camacho is a versatile player who can play anywhere across the front line and also as a full-back.

Camacho hasn’t made too many appearances for Liverpool’s first-team, having been named on the substitutes’ bench for the Merseyside Derby against Everton in the Premier League in the 2018 season.

In December 2018 he was named on the bench for Premier League games against Burnley and Manchester United. He made his senior debut in the FA Cup third round against Wolverhampton Wanderers on 7 January 2019, which is possibly what caught Nuno Espirito Santo’s eye.

He made his league debut 12 days later, coming on as a late substitute in a 4–3 win over Crystal Palace. Camacho was a regular for the senior side during the pre-season schedule in the summer of 2018 but didn’t impress enough to force a spot in the first-team.

Wolves manager Nuno Espírito Santo has blooded many Portuguese youngsters since taking over at Wolves. You only need to look at the likes of Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota.

Conclusion

This move would benefit all the parties involved and should take place. Camacho might get the game time that he’s looking for with Wolves competing in the Europa League next season.

He could also see himself playing in cup games as Wolves will be looking to see some silverware at this dawn of a new era in the club’s history.
