Wolverhampton Wanderers opinion: Wolves should let go of Leo Bonatini

According to the Nottinghamshire live, Leo Bonatini has been linked with a move away from the Molineux. The interested party are Turkish giants Fenerbahce. The Brazilian was an important figure for the club during their run in the Championship for a promotion.

With Raul Jimenez’s inclusion into the first-team after promotion though, Bonatini has found it hard to get any minutes under his belt. He had to be loaned to Championship side Nottingham Forest but that move didn’t quite work for Forest or the player.

Nuno Espírito Santo, the Wolves manager, has either used Jimenez as a lone target-man in a 3-4-3 system or used him alongside Diogo Jota in a 3-5-2 system.

Bonatini can’t play on the wing, hence, he’s become surplus to requirements, with the Portuguese tactician adamant that Jimenez will play whenever fit.

Nuno’s side have been a breath of fresh air in the Premier League, using their Portuguese contingent to topple some of the Premier League’s biggest sides, including Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea.

If they can manage to do the same against the smaller sides, they could potentially even make the top-6. Bonatini will be heading to a fantastic place to play football, as Fenerbahce are still one of the biggest clubs in Turkey.

The crowd that gathers for games there is truly incredible. He’ll get the game time that he’s been looking for and in a fantastic environment. Nuno Espirito Santo is now building a squad that can compete for higher honours after qualifying for the Europa League in their first season back in the Premier League.

It’s a truly remarkable achievement and they’ll need to get new players to compete at the European level. Nuno Santo hasn’t been very flexible with rotation either.

His teams remain largely unchanged and this exit for Bonatini would suggest that he doesn’t rate him at the highest level, which is the level that Wolves are aspiring for.

To fund the building process, a few players will be compromised and Bonatini should have no problem with this move as his game time would suggest that he’s no longer in the Wolves manager’s plans.

This is a move that will benefit all parties and should ideally be done fairly quickly. Leo Bonatini can start enjoying his football again and Wolves could use the funds to help reinforce other areas of the squad to be a force in all competitions.
