Why Wolves should definitely return for Divock Origi in January

According to the Birmingham Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers are ready to revive their interest in Liverpool striker Divock Origi. The newcomers were previously linked with the Belgian in the summer but a move ultimately failed to materialise.

Origi is yet to make a single appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season and it doesn’t seem like he features in the German’s plans. There’s a good chance that Liverpool might look to offload him in January and that is why Wolves should make the move for him.

Though the Wanderers have lost both of their last two games, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have made a splendid start to their campaign. However, they are certainly going to need another striker in their ranks.

The Wolves failed to score a goal in both of their preceding two league games before facing Tottenham and to make matters worse, top-scorer Raul Jimenez is only at the club on a season-long loan from Benfica. This means that Wolves are definitely going to be short of a striker next season.

They have also struggled to find the back of the net in the past few weeks and Origi would be an immediate solution to those problems. Though the striker is a fringe member now at Liverpool, he started his Anfield career in strong fashion, scoring 5 goals in 16 starts in his first season at the club. The 23-year-old then went on to score another 7 goals in the following season but the arrival of Roberto Firmino and inconsistency soon saw him lose his spot. But the Belgian certainly possesses the qualities that would help him thrive in a team like the Wolves.

He is tall, strong and is a direct player on the ball, which makes it very hard for the defenders. Origi is also a good finisher in front of the goal and possesses good power in his shots. The Belgian is a huge threat from aerial situations as well as set-pieces.

Divock Origi

He will surely flourish playing in Nuno Espirito Santo’s free-flowing side. He will be a good outlet for Helder Costa and Diogo Jota who can offer width and energy on the flanks. Origi’s ability will also see him receive a number of opportunities aerially, given that Wolves love to send in the crosses.

Wolves should definitely make the move for Divock Origi when the transfer window opens in January. They are certainly going to need another striker in order to maintain their status as a Premier League outfit and Origi is an ideal option.
