Winter Clear-out: 3 Players Tottenham Should Loan/Sell This January

Share

Spurs are flying high right now and with the manager, Mauricio Pochettino quite confident about his best 11, that he does not think about rotating the key players even for cup games and Europa fixtures. This makes the fringe players of the squad not get any game time and some of the young players don’t get the chance to prove themselves and that hinders their development. Here is a list of 3 players who should look elsewhere for more game time and a chance to prove themselves.

  1. Federico Fazio:

The Argentine international had quite a few games under his belt last season but slowly faded out and did not fit into Pochetino’s system. A transfer to West Bromwich fell through at the last minute of the summer window, but Fazio hoped for more chances and to fight for his place in the side, but with Alderweireld forming unbeatable chemistry with fellow Belgian, Jan Vertonghen even young and developing Austrian Kevin Wimmer who signed from FC Köln hasn’t had much more than a peak into the first 11 in cup games. This leaves Fazio a very low chance of making it back to the side and with former club Sevilla interested in bringing him back to the club, a move is very much on the cards.

2. Andros Townsend:

The England winger manages to get his name on the roster somehow but if he does want to continue doing so, he would have to move away from White Hart Lane and make the move to a club where he has chances guaranteed. With Alan Pardew interested in bringing him to Crystal Palace, Townsend should make the switch across town and play his trade at Selhurst Park. Spurs would probably not be interested in a loan move and the player may not be interested in a permanent transfer. The best solution would be a loan with buy clause.

3. Joshua Onumuah:

The young and upcoming striker is surely one to watch for in the future, but won’t get many games at the club with the second half of the season now being increasingly important to finish top 4 after such a good start. The youngster probably needs to move to a smaller club, probably in the championship where he can get needed experience and develop as a better player.

These players in my opinion are the top 3 players who should move from the club, temporarily or permanent. One has to wait and find out.
