Will This Left Back Would Be Better Off With Arsenal Rather Than Moving To Liverpool?

Share

There is no doubt that many big clubs across Europe are looking to add more quality players to their squad, in order to strengthen it as soon as possible. Amongst these top clubs are Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool. Manager Arsene Wenger and Jurgen Klopp failed to win any titles in the recently concluded season and will now look to add some talented players to their squad, before the new season starts.

Recent reports have suggested that the English giants are looking to sign Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell in the summer transfer window. The youngster is highly talented and is wanted by a host of clubs across the country with the Gunners and the Reds looking to push a deal through.

The north London giants have already seen a bid of £5m being rejected by the newly crowned champions of England. Wenger would have hoped to add the England U-20 and England U-21 international to his squad, though he would have probably sent him away on loan, as he has Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs playing as left-back. The Spaniard is the first choice at present and it would be tough for young Chilwell to displace the duo.

Also, if the player did move to Anfield, he would suffer a similar fate with Alberto Moreno and Joe Gomez being the preferred pairing over him and he would really have to make an impression in order to get a regular place in the Merseyside club’s starting eleven. Liverpool are already considering to make an offer of £4m to add him to their squad as well.

The 19 year old superstar has not been at the King Power Stadium in the previous campaign, as he was sent away on loan to Huddersfield Town and is now back with the club. With lack of game time under manager Claudio Ranieri, he will now look to once again make a move away in the current transfer window.

Arsenal seem the better option for the young Englishman, as Wenger gives youngsters more time to feature for him in the Carling Cup. It would depend on how far the team goes in the competition and if they can continue to win, he could be enjoying some healthy game time with the Londoners.

However, the thing is a permanent deal would just frustrate him rather and an initial loan deal with the option of eventually buying would be rather a better option, as Wenger would get time to analyze and monitor his progress in the process.

Leicester on the other hand will want him to develop into a better player, so that they can offer him a better contract and charge a higher fee for his services, with a host of clubs looking interested. The player is still quite young and will be an asset for the future at any club that he joins.
