Wolves signing this immensely talented Portuguese star would have been a match made in heaven and here’s why

Why Wolves should’ve signed Andre Silva in the summer

Wolves haven’t looked like themselves in the early season after struggling to break teams down in the first couple of games and then following that up by looking way off-colour in their game against Everton, where they conceded 3 goals and looked very out of shape defensively, which isn’t characteristic of the organized side that they’ve been for the last couple of seasons.

It looked like they couldn’t wait to get a break after a very tiring schedule and ended up conceding 3 goals at Goodison Park. They should be more than capable of bouncing back once the international break is done.

One way they’d not have had such problems is by bulking up their squad and a player who’d have helped them is Andre Silva, who was linked with a move in the summer but has joined Eintracht Frankfurt on loan instead.

Andre Silva

The Portuguese international was touted as one of the best up and coming forwards in the world but has struggled a little to show the levels of consistency that is required in a top striker.

He joined Sevilla on loan last season from AC Milan and made quite a big impression at the start of last season but failed to build on it for the rest of the campaign. He ended up scoring 11 goals and providing 3 assists but he could definitely do a lot better.

He’s also a Portuguese international and has scored 15 goals for the national side, which suggests that there’s still a lot to unearth in Silva. If he can somehow channel that into his club performances, he’d quickly become one of the top talents in the world.

And there aren’t too many managers who’d be better for him to work with than Nuno Espírito Santo, the former FC Porto boss.

His time in Portugal would’ve helped him settle quite easily to the new surroundings and he would give the manager some flexibility in the forward areas by occasionally switching between the two-man frontline or a three-man frontline depending on the game.

The Wolves gaffer has built a strong base of Portuguese talent in Ruben Neves, Joao Mourinho and Diogo Jota. Silva would feel at home immediately at the Molineux and there’s a place for him in this team and in the Premier League.

Andre Silva could’ve got the step up in his development that he’s been looking for and Wolves would have had a player with immense potential, coming closer to realizing his full potential like the manager had done with Ruben Neves.
