Why Tottenham Are Right To Keep An Eye On This Serie A Gem?

Why Stephan Shaarawy would be the best for Tottenham?

Tottenham have had an inconsistent start to the 2013-14 EPL Campiagn so far, limping to wins in matches they were expected to win big. While Andre Villas Boas has inexplicably, failed to sort out his best eleven, his players too, who were expected to take the Premier League by storm so far been nothing more than damp squibs barring the already mesmerizing Chrisitian Eriksen.

While Soldado the former Valencia hitman, has netted just four league goals and worryingly just the once from open the likes of Erik Lamela, who inexplicably has spent much of his time on the bench. Soldado was expected to have the same impact in the Premier League as Aguero had with Manchester City (at-least by the White Hart Lane faithful), but the so called Goal Machine has been on wet grounds since moving to the Greener pastures of White Hart Lane. Though he has been good  in bursts, finding space for his team mates or holding the ball and bringing others into play, he still hasn’t done the job for which he was primarily bought for.

It’s nothing new that Spurs have invested almost all their money furnished from the sale of Bale to Real Madrid in their quest for Champions League qualification and AVB knows the job he has at his hand. Jermain Defoe is expected to move in January, while Emmanuel Adebayor has been frozen out by Villas-Boas. According to reports from Mirror, “Tottenham plot transfer swoop for AC Milan’s Stephan El Shaarawy in January window and rumours about Juventus striker Fernando Llorente have also popped up.

My personal opinion would be El Shaarawy, the Italian nicknamed as the Little Pharaoh has reportedly rejected big tempting move to the Premier League  after it emerged that Chelsea had put on a whopping offer on the plate.  He has also fallen down the pecking order at San Siro with the arrival of Kaka and Alessandro Matri.

Football Italia reports,

“However, if playing time is at a premium this season for Milan, then he could consider a Premier League switch. The club has made it clear anyone hoping to buy El Shaarawy will have to pay at the very least £20m, as he is a full Italy international who scored 16Serie A goals last season.”

While the 20 year old has immense pace, brilliant and sharp on the turn, he possess the best of potential to unlock games on their head when needed. He might just be the signing Tottenham need to kickstart their Champions League Aspirations.
