Why This Beast Striker And Arsenal Would Make A Brilliant Partnership And Not Liverpool

Share

How time changes for a player and for a club, Robert Lewandowski’s move to Bayern Munich at the start of the season was supposed to be a match made in heaven, the Bavarian giants even sold one of the best strikers in the Bundesliga, Mario Mandzukic to Atletico Madrid to make some space for Lewa but all does not seem to be as peachy as it seems.

While Bayern are running away with the Bundesliga title, yet again, there have been a few rumblings about Lewandowski’s future at the club, that too after just signing for them at the start of the season. Rumour has it that he is not happy at being played as a more left sided winger rather than a central striker for Munich and he could be willing to make a move away from the club.

Although Pep has not categorically stated that he wants to sell Lewandowski, experts have already claimed it is the Pep effect where he loses his trust on a striker, the same has happened already to Ibrahimovic, Etoo and Mandzukic to name a few. One important factor which could decide the sale of Lewandowski is the fact that he was signed on a free at the start of the season and any team wanting to buy the 26 year old would have to break the bank, Robert is still one of the best strikers of the game and has scored 11 goals from 29 appearances for Bayern, not the sort of return he got at Dortmund.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool are in the market for a striker and they both could have money to burn in the transfer window, especially Arsenal who have paid a bunch to sign the likes of Sanchez and Ozil but just who would Lewandowski move to?

Two reds but a tough choice to make

While Lewandowski is undoubtedly one of the best strikers of the game, his pace is not the greatest in the world. He does not have pace to burn or leave defenders for dead but is rather someone who will move across the line and move into space as he tries to score. His finishing and movement is second to none but his acceleration and pace are to be seen.

Playing in the Premier League is a tough task altogether but if there was a choice between Arsenal and Liverpool, the Polish striker should move to Arsenal simply because he does not need to have pace to play for the Gunners, they already have the likes of Sanchez, Walcott and Cazorla who can provide him with all the passes and can move about the pitch really well which can leave Lewandowski to exploit spaces.

Playing for Liverpool entails a player must have pace in the final third at least and we have seen with Balotelli that without pace there really is a lot of stagnant movement, which does not bode well for the Anfield club, the likes of Ibe, Sterling and Sturridge provide the pace that Liverpool need and while any club would want to have Lewandowski, it isn’t about just who can you buy but can the player fit into the team.

Arsenal and Lewandowski would be a brilliant partnership, if only this happens.
