According to Daily Mail, Newcastle are keen on signing a left-back for cover and Iranian defender Milad Mohammadi has been offered to the Magpies by Russian outfit Akhmat Grozny.
Newcastle United have had a pretty treacherous season so far and while they have shown signs of improvement in the last few weeks, there are still various issues for Rafa Benitez to solve.
Having seen it all in his long career, Rafa must be quietly confident that his side can escape the grasps of relegation. They certainly have the quality in the ranks to upset some of the best teams in the league on their day.
There are a multitude of worries that need to be addressed at St.James’ Park including the search for a striker who is capable of consistently scoring goals for the side. They also have the urgent need for a holding midfielder.
While this is the case, their main area of concern has become clear over the last month or so. Paul Dummett is the only recognised left-back in the Newcastle squad, which is a massive problem for a team at this level.
While Achraf Lazaar has been frozen out by Rafa, Dummett picked up a hamstring injury a few weeks ago which will keep him out for a little longer. Benitez has resorted to a back-three with winger Matt Ritchie playing the wing-back role.
As stated by Daily Mail, Akhmat Grozny have offered Iranian left-back Milad Mohammadi to Rafael Benitez as a possible cover for the injured Dummett. The 25-year-old is currently representing his country at the AFC Asian Cup.
Capped 25 times for Iran, he is capable of using both feet and has been at the Russian club since February 2016. He has made a total of 16 appearances in the league this term and has even scored a goal. He has made a total of 70 appearances for Akhmat Grozny and has contributed 3 goals and 6 assists.
His pace and running power are unquestionable while his massive tank allows him to get up and down the pitch with ease. He is a very good defender and is quite strong at delivering crosses.
His passing and movement on the flanks are extremely good while he makes it a point to overlap at every available opportunity.
He has been in very good form this year and has been able to display his quality in various matches this season. He could be the perfect Premier League defender and Rafa would do a good job to acquire his signature.
