Manchester United have had an excellent transfer window so far with new manager Jose Mourinho bringing in stars such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, of course the former Chelsea manager has stated that he is looking to sign a player or two more, depending on the availability of stars.
One player who has constantly been linked with a move away from his current club, Real Madrid, is James Rodriguez. As soon as it was found that James and his manager Zinedine Zidane don’t really have the best of relationships and his playing time is not a guarantee at the Santiago Bernabeu, clubs have been lining up for his signing.
Another player that seems to also be on the radar for Manchester United is Claudio Bravo, the Barcelona keeper. This one is a tricky transfer story to believe but with United anything can be true. The fact of the matter is Bravo is only the number one keeper during La Liga games but for the cup competitions it is Marc-Andre ter Stegen, the German goalkeeper and Bravo might want to move in search of regular football.
The signing of Bravo could mean an exit for David de Gea as he has repeatedly said he wants to join Real Madrid and he was just hours away from completing his move last season when the game of faxes began. If Manchester United do pull off these signings, it would certainly make it a dream summer for the Old Trafford club.
What a turnaround it has been for the side, after they sacked Louis van Gaal and missed out on Champions League football for this season, not many expected Manchester United to be constantly in the news for signings, let alone have some great signings.
Eric Bailly’s move might not have been that big a deal given that he only had one great season for Villarreal but the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, on a free, really sent shockwaves to the Premier League. It also ensured that United have one world-class and experienced striker, who is in the form of his life and will score a lot of goals this season.
That return of goals will be accentuated by another surprise signing, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who has been one of the best Bundesliga players in recent times. The movement, vision and finishing ability of the Armenian cannot be questioned and United certainly have stolen one of the best players right under the noses of many other teams vying for his signature.
If the club does sign Bravo and Rodriguez, they would actually add more quality to a side that is in desperate need of it. Sure, Bravo replacing De Gea is not the best of options but he still is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and if he continues playing regularly, he could become even better.
Rodriguez though is an enigma and we aren’t sure if Mourinho can deal with someone who needs a lot of coaxing to get the best out of him but when James is on fire, he is probably one of the best attacking midfielders in the world.
The summer has been incredible for Manchester United but if they can clinch these two deals, it would very well be the greatest summer window for the club in a long time. Every player who has signed for the club till now is world-class and the other two in the pipeline follow the same vein.
What a season it could be for Manchester United fans and the biggest question that everyone must be asking is, can Jose really win the title in the first season?
