During the 2015/16 campaign, a young French lad grabbed the headlines in his home country. In a match between PSG U19’s and Saint-Etienne U19’s, Samuel Essende scored a mesmerizing back-heel in a 4-0 win for the capital club.
The now 20-year-old continued to impress for PSG’s youth and reserve side. Last term, Essende scored 7 goals in 20 games for PSG B. In 2016/17, he impressed in the UEFA Youth Champions League, netting 4 goals. All of them came against Bulgarian side Ludogorets, with the French team winning each match 8-1 and 4-1 respectively.
With his youth contract expiring at the end of June, Essende is now free to discuss terms with any club willing to have him in their ranks. Norwich City should offer him a deal.
Norwich have recent signing Teemu Pukki, Dennis Srbeny and Nelson Oliveira as their current senior striker options, with academy product Carlton Morris expected to be out until the new year with a knee injury.
Last season, the Canaries finished 14th in the Championship, scoring just 49 goals. They had the sixth worst attacking record in the division, and manager Daniel Farke should strengthening his strike force. Bringing in former Celtic man Teemu Pukki was a great deal by the boss but the Yellows will need more options up front.
With players such as Edinson Cavani, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in the setup, it’s clear Essende won’t get many chances in the PSG first-team. The club has offered him a new contract but should he decide to stay, he’ll either keep playing for the reserves or go out on loan somewhere.
With a sweet right foot, decent speed and technique, Essende is one of the hot properties in Europe right now.
Of course, it will be difficult for Norwich to convince him to arrive at Carrow Road but if they manage to do so, it would be a massive deal for the Canaries.

They need to improve in order to fight for a higher position in the league this season and Essende can help them do so. He’s young, gifted, and is promising.
Norwich can give him the opportunity to shine in one of the most demanding and competitive leagues in Europe. It will be a lovely deal for both the club and the player.
