Jose Mourinho’s downfall was unexpected and it hurt Manchester United in ways few people would have ever thought it would.
Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and even Marcus Rashford was in tatters, their Premier League hopes needed surgery and a miracle, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer managed to push them into the Champions League quarter-finals.
Not only has he re-created Pogba and company, but Solskjaer has done the impossible and brought them back into the top four race.
While the Red Devils still have a fight on their hands, it’s not an impossible scenario to see them finish in the top four or even top three. Yet that being said, the club are not ready for a title challenge and while they have great players in a lot of positions, they need reinforcements.
One man who they should be targeting over the summer is Sebastien Haller. While Manchester United have been linked with a move for Ante Rebic (Calciomercato), Haller would be a better choice.
Sure, the 24-year-old isn’t the kind of striker the Red Devils would normally target but given Haller’s rare blend of creativity and clinical finishing, he would be a good fit.
A throwback to the centre-forwards of the past, Haller has become the focal point of Eintracht Frankfurt’s incredible front-line in the past two seasons.
A rather towering figure at 6’3”, Haller bears a striking resemblance to the centre-forwards of the past and he uses that similarity well, deceiving the opponent with his skills.
Quick feet, a poacher’s instinct and clinical finishing, Haller is close to the perfect centre-forward. But like most modern forwards, the 24-year-old is exceptionally good at link-up play. In fact, without his presence on the field, few would have seen either Luka Jovic or Ante Rebic do this well this season.
That has been witnessed by the fact that Sebastien Haller has 12 assists to his name, with 9 of them coming in the Bundesliga. That’s what makes him absolutely perfect for Manchester United, even more so than Romelu Lukaku.
While no-one can doubt Lukaku’s ability and prowess on the ball, Haller adds a creative element that the Belgian simply does not have. Furthermore, like Pogba and Anthony Martial, the 24-year-old is a Frenchman who has played football alongside them for France at the youth levels.

If Manchester United convince Eintracht Frankfurt to sell Sebastien Haller, then they would truly have a team that is capable of winning the title.
The only question is whether they will trust Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with the permanent job but either way, Haller is the way forward and it’s a move the Red Devils must make.
