Liverpool’s problems in central midfield have been evident in recent games, with the Reds not being able to produce a spark from the middle of the park. Fabinho has cemented the number 6 spot for himself but he has had no permanent partner next to him.
Georgino Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson and James Milner have played next to the Brazilian but have failed to be consistent. Naby Keita has failed to gain the trust of his manager and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s injury has left a void in the Reds’ midfield.
Liverpool need to address the situation in the summer and Jurgen Klopp should consider signing Napoli’s versatile midfielder Allan. The 28-year old has been an integral part of Carlo Ancelotti’s side this campaign and will be a solid addition to the Liverpool squad.
Allan is predominantly a box-to-box midfielder but has been used as a number 6 at times in his career. The 28-year-old’s presence in the midfield allows his teammates to have more freedom and his positional discipline offers much-needed steel in front of his team’s defence.
Allan is very similar in style to Fernandinho, a committed midfielder who would put his body on the line for the team. The Brazilian’s range of passing is better than the Manchester City man’s and can pick out runners from the deep.
Allan’s ball recoveries are one of the best in the business and he rarely ever loses the ball when in possession. His speed allows him to cover the ground quickly and has the brilliant awareness to close any sort of space that could be exploited.
Allan has played 23 times in the Serie A this season and averages an incredible 3.7 tackles per game. The Brazilian’s passing is also impressive, with 1.1 key passes and 3.2 long balls per 90 minutes.
At Liverpool, Allan would be an outstanding addition next to Fabinho. The Brazilian can continuously switch positions with his compatriot and cause a ton of problems to the attackers looking for space.
Allan, if needed, can also play in place of Fabinho and would have a greater impact from deeper positions than the former Monaco man. The 28-year-old would essentially be a better fit for Jurgen Klopp than Naby Keita, whose work off the ball has been underwhelming this campaign.
Allan is used to dealing with hard challenges and would not take much time to adapt to the physicality of the Premier League. The Brazilian is under a long-term contract with Carlo Ancelloti’s side and a move away will not be cheap for the Reds.

Liverpool’s already solid defence would become almost unbeatable with the signing of Allan. The Brazilian will provide much more freedom to Fabinho in central midfield and when the Liverpool man sits back, Allan can push forward and cause a ton of damage.
Jurgen Klopp will be making a smart move if he were to move for the Napoli midfielder and is one that could be pivotal if they were to fulfil their huge ambitions in the near future.
