Leicester City have made a number of significant additions to their squad, with Claude Puel bringing in the likes of Dann Ward, Johnny Evans, James Maddison, Ricardo Pereira and most recently, Rachid Ghezzal from Monaco.
According to The Sun, Claude Puel has failed in his pursuit of Stoke City striker Mame Biram Diouf after failing to meet Stoke City’s £15million evaluation of the player.
Claude Puel should make a renewed bid for the striker before the window shuts tomorrow. Mame Biram Diouf would provide the manager with regular goals and would be a constant threat in front of goal. The Foxes have already generated a lot of funds through the transfer of Riyad Mahrez.
Leicester should certainly splash the cash on the striker who will provide the squad with some much-needed depth and strength in the final third. Now that Mahrez is gone, the responsibility of scoring goals will fall on Jamie Vardy and the arrival of the Stoke striker will ease Vardy’s buden.
Diouf is a tall, strong and agile striker who possesses impressive pace on the ball. He is a terrific dribbler, with his bull-like presence making it very hard for defenders to take the ball off him. The Senegal striker racked up 6 goals and 2 assists in 35 appearances for the Potters last season.
He is a proven Premier League striker and would be an able deputy to Jamie Vardy. Together, the pair could also strike up a fiery partnership that would send shockwaves across the Premier League. Vardy is needs a new partner in crime and that man could be Diouf.
The 20-year-old’s towering presence also helps him be a huge aerial threat from set-pieces and crosses. Diouf’s dominance in the air suit Claude Puel’s system which involves a lot of long balls and deliveries into the box.

While Leicester City weren’t in the best of forms last season, Claude Puel should strive for better things this time around. The manager faces a race against time to complete a deal for the striker but it’s one the Foxes shouldn’t hesitate to make.
Leicester City have strengthened the squad in a number of key areas but one last signing in the offensive department should conclude a fruitful summer for the club.
