Why Leeds signing Man City’s Brahim Diaz could be beneficial for all parties involved

According to The Sun, Leeds are interested in signing as many as four Manchester City youngsters on loan this summer. It might sound strange but Citizens manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that new Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa has had a huge influence on his career so far.

So, he is ready to help out the Argentine manager by loaning him players. The starlets in question are Angus Gunn, Tosin Adarabioyo, Brahim Diaz and Lukas Nmecha. Here, we will solely concentrate on Diaz and see how he could potentially fare at Elland Road.

The 18-year-old first started at Malaga’s academy before moving to City when he was just 14 years old. He has mostly played for the Premier League champions’ youth and reserve sides but he had a decent spell with the first-team last season.

Diaz made 10 appearances in all competitions for the Citizens in the 2017/18 campaign, with 5 of those coming in the Premier League and 3 in the Champions League. However, the attacking midfielder is yet to score for the senior side.

Brahim Diaz

The Spaniard is regarded as one of the most promising youngsters to come through City’s youth ranks in recent years. He’s one of those creative players, who can slice open the opposition defence with a pass. The teenager is a player with great technical ability.

Diaz is very versatile and can play in various positions. His natural position is just behind the striker but he can be used as a winger on either flank.

As of now, Leeds have a big squad, but Bielsa will probably look to offload some players and freshen his team up in the summer. Diaz could prove to be a valuable acquisition for the Whites and can form a promising partnership with compatriot Pablo Hernandez at Elland Road. The 33-year old is a very good player but he is no longer young, and signing Diaz could help to take some pressure off his shoulders.

Diaz put in several impressive performances for City last season but the youngster still has a long way to go. He has the speed, the agility, the technique and the creativity, but he’s not a finished product yet.

One of the best features of new Leeds boss Bielsa is that he likes working with young players, and he can help Diaz improve considerably.

A loan move to Leeds should be ideal for the youngster too as he will get to play regular first-team football in a demanding league such as the Championship. If the deal goes through, it will be beneficial for all parties involved.
