Why Is It A Win-win Situation For Manchester United To Go Ahead With This Surprise Swap Deal

The papers are awash with huge Manchester United news, the transfer window has been fairly quiet for the club, apart from the signing of Memphis Depay, and the club haven’t really done much. The latest rumours link a move away for Angel Di Maria and in his place would come Thomas Muller from Bayern Munich. German reports suggest that Pep Guardiola and Muller had a falling out and it could end the time for the German at the club.

Pep does have a history of falling out with some of his best players, Eto’o and Mandzukic come to mind and this could have taken place for Muller as well. Di Maria didn’t have the best first season for Manchester United last year and a deal could take him to Germany where he could have a better time but with United set to lose David De Gea to Real Madrid, should they be willing to go ahead with this deal?

A world cup winner on the books

Muller would be a great addition to the club, especially if he replaces Angel Di Maria. Di Maria didn’t have the best season for United and was unable to break into the team once he returned from injury. There were also questions about his attitude when playing for the club. Muller would always be willing to give 100% and more to the cause, something that United fans have learned to see and more importantly expect from every player out there.

Muller would also give United a wealth of options for playing him in a few positions. He could play with Rooney as a striker or just behind him as a central attacker. He can play down the wings also, if that is a requirement for Manchester United. The one thing that Muller does not have is the flair and speed of Di Maria, sure Di Maria might go missing in a few games but he does have the ability to change games for United and that is something that United need as well.

Muller though wins the battle between the players as he is one of the best finishers in the game. The German is only 25-years-old and still has a lot of playing time left in him. Muller in place of Di Maria is a deal that United should take without any second thoughts, the fact that a player of his calibre is willing to move to a club which is still in a rebuilding phase is a testament to United’s brand value.

Di Maria might not be that great for United but he could be one of the most important players this season as United look to rebuild and could use the Argentine in swap deals for other world class players.
