Moussa Sissoko has turned his career around in Tottenham, thanks to a lot of hard-work.
The Frenchman joined Spurs from Newcastle in 2016 and didn’t set the stage alight with his performances.
The midfielder started just eight Premier League games in his debut season for Spurs but that increased to 15 in the next campaign.
Sissoko was almost undroppable in the previous season as he racked up 27 Premier League starts, and also played a key role in Tottenham’s run to the Champions League final.
The Frenchman hasn’t started this season all that well, with Tottenham struggling for positive results.
However, Spurs confirmed that Sissoko had signed a new deal and will remain at the club till 2023.
The 30-year-old doesn’t have a lot of quality years left in the tank but handing him a new deal was the right move by Spurs.
Sissoko was possibly the best player for Tottenham last season and he has been on an incredible rise since his debut campaign for the club.
The former Newcastle star can play in several positions for the side too and is the ultimate professional when it comes to his activities.
Negative stories about Sissoko are at a minimum and he didn’t make a huge fuss when he struggled in his debut campaign.
However, he never gave up on the move and has even usurped regulars such as Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama in the starting XI.
Even with Tanguy Ndombele coming into the side, Sissoko has played in all six Premier League games this season and also came off the bench in the Champions League draw against Olympiakos.
Harry Kane and Son Heung-min might get the plaudits for scoring the goals and keeping Spurs ticking, but the real engine in the team over the past 18 months has been Sissoko.
The Frenchman has given it his all for the club, and the new deal the best reward for his performances.
Sissoko isn’t the flashiest player on the pitch for Tottenham, and neither does he get the precious goals to win the games.
However, it will be difficult to find another player that gives as much to a team after putting on the jersey and the Frenchman deserves the deal after his remarkable turnaround.
