Grady Diangana, 21, has enjoyed an excellent start to the season for the Baggies, netting four times and creating a further five goals in his 14 appearances in the Championship so far.

He has been a constant thorn for the Championship defences, causing problems with his movement and direct running and is a crucial factor in why West Brom are currently top of the league.

While there is a clause in Diangana’s contract that allows West Ham to recall him, this is something Pellegrini has said that he is not looking to do, as he wants the youngster to play 40 games for West Brom in the second-tier.

This news will be well received by those at the Hawthorns, as there was a belief that the 21-year-old would be recalled by West Ham in January to boost their attacking options following their recent struggles in the Premier League.

West Brom retained their position at the top of the Championship after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Hull City on Sunday before heading into the international break. It’s been a massive team effort from the Baggies to get in this position after 16 games, with several players thriving under the management of Slaven Bilic.

One of them is Grady Diangana, who has played a key role in the Baggies’ impressive start to the campaign which has seen them climb to the second-tier summit. In fact, he has been on fire in the Championship and been a crucial cog in Bilic’s set-up.

The 21-year-old is proving a key player and will play a pivotal role as Bilic’s side look to secure a return to the Premier League. His overall contributions have been massive to the team’s cause and finding someone to replace him in the New Year would have been a real challenge for West Brom.

Losing a player of Diangana’s qualities and influence midway through the season would have been a big blow for Bilic and co. Thus, the young winger can focus on maintaining his excellent recent form.

Verdict

In truth, it will be best for Diangana’s development to remain with West Brom until the end of the season.
