According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Premier League giants Manchester United and Liverpool are set to battle out for the signature of one of the hottest youth properties in European football – Berke Ozer.
It has been claimed that both clubs have sent their scouts to watch the 18-year-old goalkeeper in action, ahead of a possible swoop for the player in the upcoming summer transfer window (h/t Daily Mirror).
With both, United and Liverpool having established first-team keepers, Ozer might not break into the first-team squad as soon as he arrives. However, he is a prodigious player, who could enhance the quality of either youth teams and work up the ranks.
Ozer was previously linked with a move to Manchester City, but that move didn’t happen. He then joined Fenerbahce from his boyhood club Altinordu for a fee around €2.5m (h/t Daily Mirror).

The 18-year-old started playing youth football for his boyhood club Altinordu from January 2013. Since then, he has come through the ranks at the club and eventually played first-team football for them in 2016.
After seven senior appearances within the timeframe of 2016 and 2018, Ozer moved to Fenerbahce last summer. He made one appearance for the first-team in a cup game, where he kept a clean sheet.
Other than that, the teenager has been a regular part of the U21 team and done a good job there.
If we take a look at his goalkeeping style, Ozer’s reflexes from short and long-range shots and handling, in general, is pretty solid. His height (190cm) allows him to be commanding from crosses and he doesn’t shy away from coming out of his line to punch the ball in those situations.
The Turkish U19 international’s positioning, at times, has been questionable but can be worked on, as he is still very young and has a long way to go. His kicking and distribution are decent from the back.
