Who is this 19-year-old prodigy on Gerrard’s radar? A good signing for Rangers?

According to the Daily Record, Scottish club Rangers are eyeing up a summer move for Scotland U21 star Harvey St Clair. The 19-year-old is being tracked by Gers boss Steven Gerrard after he caught the eye of the Liverpool legend during the Toulon Tournament in the summer.

The Scottish giants are monitoring the progress of the player very closely and could make a move for him come the end of this season.

Here’s everything you need to know about the youngster, including his youth career, positions he can play and other things:

Scout Report – Harvey St Clair

Age – 19

Current Club – Venezia FC (Serie B)

Playing position – Left wing, Attacking midfield, Second Striker

Harvey St Clair, born in London to a Scottish mother, came through the youth ranks at Chelsea before making a move to Serie B club Venezia after shining at Toulon.

As per the report, the player revealed how Rangers coach Michael Beale played a part in his decision to move to Italy and develop his game there.

Beale worked with the 19-year-old in the youth ranks at Chelsea, before moving to Liverpool and then on to Rangers with Gerrard. And the player, who now has three Scotland U21 caps as well, took the advice from his former mentor in order to make a move away from west London.

The youngster can operate in several positions across the midfield and in the wide areas. He is a right-footed player who loves to play on the left wing, cutting inside and unleashing a shot, and simultaneously creating space for the full-backs on the outside.

St Clair possesses the change of pace on the ball to go past opponents in a flash. He is a good dribbler, making use of quick feet to bamboozle the defenders.

All in all, the 19-year-old definitely has the talent to shine if given the opportunity. If the legendary Steven Gerrard is taking a closer look at him, it is clear that the youngster could be a star in the making.

Joining Rangers would be an ideal move for the player as he will get the chance to work with a passionate manager who would upgrade his game. At such a tender age, he still has the time to develop and become a key player for Rangers in the coming seasons.
