What Should Germany Do With This Manchester United Star If He Proves Fit For The Euros

Bastian Schweinsteiger might not be having the best of seasons, but he is one of the best midfielders out there. The former Bayern Munich midfielder moved to Manchester United at the start of the season and this was considered as quite a coup by the English side.

Though things have not worked out all that well for the 31-year-old and he has only been able to play 18 games in the league with just 13 in the starting XI. Things might not look too good for him and Germany as the side look to do well in the upcoming Euro 2016 tournament.

Bastian has only scored once in the entire campaign and was brought in as someone who could do a great job in midfield for the Manchester side, who have lacked some steel in that position for a while.

Unfortunately, Germany already have a lot of top quality in their midfield and breaking into that would be a tough proposition for Bastian. The Manchester United star would be up against the likes of Christoph Kramer and Sami Khedira and these are the two who should start regularly for Germany should the tournament start.

Khedira is slowly making his presence felt in Juventus after being in the doldrums at Real Madrid while Kramer has become one of the most important players for Bayer Leverkusen and we cannot forget that he did start in the final of the 2014 World Cup as well but had to be taken off due to a head injury.

It isn’t just those two who would be giving a lot of competition to Bastian. Germany also have Toni Kroos who is starring at Real Madrid this season and breaking into this midfield is no easy task.

Kramer has been playing regular football for his side and has 27 league starts to his name, which is way more than Bastian does. The 23-year-old German has been a mainstay for Leverkusen as they look to play in the UEFA Champions League next season, but the midfielder will look to star in the midfield for the national side in France.

The same goes for Kroos and Sami Khedira, the duo have been more consistent for their respective sides and surely deserve a start ahead of Bastian. The sad fact is that the only reason Bayern let go of the German midfielder was because he was not good enough to play for them. The World Cup winner has not been able to capture his form for the German side and also for the English side and it does seem likely that he will be left behind as a new and younger German side looks to win the 2016 Euros.
