What Is The Future Of This Fan Favourite Star At Arsenal Next Season?

Everyone deserves second chances! Well in the world of football they do, as anything is possible at any given point of time. A player who might not be on top of his game could make a comeback and impress in a few games on his return and possibly become the first choice player once again at a big club. As the saying goes, “Form is temporary, class is permanent” and all big players have already proven it.

One such player who needs to try and prove that now is Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczęsny, who had lost his place in the Gunners’ starting eleven following certain incidents on and off the pitch, after a bright start to life in the Premier League.

The 26 year old Poland international was replaced by his team-mate David Ospina at the Emirates, after Arsene Wenger dropped him to the bench.

The arrival of Petr Cech last summer made things worse for the goalie and he eventually left on loan to Serie A giants AS Roma. Now, Szczesny has made his return to north London, with his contract with the Italian outfit expiring this summer.

Talks are still going on whether he would rejoin the Romans or not and the move could be a permanent one this time around, though reports suggested that the deal was being stalled by the Premier League side at the moment.

The question now remains is whether or not Szczesny should remain at Arsenal, with a return to the Stadio Olimpico on the cards where he played 34 games with more than 3000 minutes of action under his belt.

Also, David Ospina is reportedly all set to leave the Londoners in the current transfer window, which would mean that Wenger would need a backup for Cech, who would once again be his first choice.

Despite that, the fate of the Colombian international last season might urge Szczesny to leave the club. Ospina made just 9 appearances for Arsenal last term, playing just 360 minutes in the league, which could be the fate of his team-mate as well, if he decides to say with the Frenchman’s side.

The top flight of English football will surely provide both players with some opportunities to showcase their talent, as the season goes on and then there are the cup competitions as well. Despite that, whether or not the Pole can impress Wenger remains to be seen.

Ospina’s time at the club is all but over it would seem, after helping his national side reach the semi-finals of the Copa America tournament, where they managed to finish third.

Regular football is the need of the days for either of the two Arsenal keepers and with the former Chelsea man well established in the starting eleven, it will surely be tough for them to stay at the club.
