What If Dele Alli Moves To Real Madrid? Here Are 3 Super Replacements Tottenham Could Look At

Share

Tottenham Hotspurs star Dele Alli has emerged as a surprise target for current UEFA Champions League holders Real Madrid. The Los Galacticos are plotting a sensational £50 million move for the English midfielder in the summer of 2017.

The 20-year old enjoyed a stellar debut campaign in the Premier League scoring 10 goals and racking up 9 assists, emerging as one of the most prominent players in Spurs’ title run. He deservedly won the PFA Young Player of the Year Award for his excellent performances last term.

However, he began this term in a slightly slower fashion, but he seems to have found his mojo back after some amazing displays in recent weeks that saw him saw score three doubles in three consecutive games against Southampton, Watford and Chelsea over the festive period. Alli now has scored 10 times and has further assisted a single goal this season.

And his displays have managed to catch the attention of the Spanish giants who have a history of doing business with the North Londoners, having previously signed Luka Modric and Gareth Bale. Alli recently signed a six-year contract extension with Spurs and Mauricio Pochettino has no intentions of selling his star youngster. However, chairman Daniel Levy has shown in the past that he will make a deal if the price is right. So, here we give three contingencies that Mauricio Pochettino can look to bring in as a replacement for Alli, if he does end up becoming a Galactico:

Isco

The Spanish playmaker has been linked with a move to the White Hart Lane for quite some time now and if Alli does move to Madrid, it might happen that Isco moves the other way.

The 24-year old has struggled for game time under Zinedine Zidane this term and an exit from the Spanish capital seems more likely than ever. He may not be cut from the same cloth as Alli, but Isco will provide an alternate threat for Spurs playing behind Harry Kane. His impeccable vision and amazing creativity, combined with a lethal Kane in the attack could turn this Spurs side into a goal machine.

Having featured 12 times for Real this term in the La Liga, Isco has scored two goals and assisted a further two strikes. The former Malaga midfielder may not offer the same goal threat that Alli does, but with his drive and creativity in the midfield, Isco could prove to be a smart addition for Tottenham.

Ross Barkley

Another midfielder who has been credited with an interest from Pochettino and Spurs, Ross Barkley seems to have somewhat lost his way after being tipped as the next big thing in English football a couple of seasons ago.

The 23-year old enjoyed a good campaign last year scoring and assisting 8 goals each, but has been under the scanner this term with manager Ronald Koeman demanding he steps up his game. He has scored thrice and assisted two more goals this term from his 18 Premier League appearances.

Barkley has the experience in the English top division, has shown he can deal with the physicality and can contribute with goals as well. A combination of strength and finesse in the middle of the park, Barkley is pacy, powerful and full of running and could be the ideal man to fill in the void if Alli does leave.

James Rodriguez

Another Madridista on the list, James Rodriguez has had to endure a nightmarish season so far at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Colombian attacker has been unable to carve out a place for himself in manager Zinedine Zidane’s first team and is believed to be heading towards the exit doors having grown frustrated at the lack of opportunities.

Having scored 20 goals and assisted 21 strikes in his first two seasons with Real Madrid in the Spanish top division, James has been reduced to a peripheral figure this term and has featured only 8 times in the La Liga, in which he has scored once and set up two more – in La Liga.

Technically gifted, extremely talented and versatile; there is no doubt over the abilities of the 25-year old James. He can slot in as a No.10 in the Tottenham setup with ease and can wreak havoc with his incredible vision and an eye for a goal. And throw into the mix, his supreme abilities from dead ball situations, James could be the perfect addition that can propel Spurs further up.
