West Ham United Player Ratings vs Stoke City

It was Saturday afternoon as West Ham United faced off against Stoke City at Upton Park, after a 0-0 draw against Manchester United last weekend. The visitors were in better recent form though Slaven Bilić’s side had no mood of giving up that easy in front of their home crowd, despite the injury crisis in his squad. Mark Hughes was the luckier manager to have more players available to him though it did not really matter in the game. Both sides created chances yet failed to finish them off and there were no goals, as the complete 90 minutes were played out. It was a frustrating evening for some of the players and the match eventually ending in a 0-0 draw.

Player Ratings:

Adrian: 8/10

Though both the keepers were busy on the night, Jack Butland did not have to be as strong as his opposite number, Adrian who was forced to  produce two big saves from Mame Diouf. The Spaniard was the reason why the hosts left with a point and a hard-earned clean sheet.

Aaron Cresswell: 7/10

Defended well at the back and helped his side keep the opposition as quiet as possible though the Potters’ attack was in some amazing form in recent weeks.

Angelo Ogbonna: 6/10

Not the best defender that the Hammers had on the night though he did well to deal against the threat of Bojan.

James Tomkins: 6/10

Played his part on the right side of the defence, though it was not an easy night by any stretch of the imagination.

James Collins: 6/10

Came into the side once again, as Reid was out injured and did his defensive duties well on the night.

Cheikhou Kouyaté: 7/10

Played in a bit more advanced role than in the previous game, as Alex Song was the only player mainly used to shield the defence.

Alex Song: 6/10

Looked to do his job and break down the opponent’s attacks, but was taken off to be replaced by an attack-minded Valencia.

Mark Noble: 6/10

Did not play as a number 10 this time around and had a few chances to create some quick play, though he could not really get on the ball and the result ended up being exactly similar to last weekend when they drew 0-0 against Manchester United.

Michail Antonio: 7/10

Played for about 83 minutes of the game in his first start in the league this term, as West Ham looked for goals, but he failed to finish off the chances. Replaced by Jelavic, who came on add more energy and pace.

Mauro Zarate: 6/10

Hit the woodwork and should have really scored in the game, in which he had the chance to make a difference.

Andy Carroll: 6/10

Took some long shots to try and test Butland, though nothing really developed from his efforts.

Substitutes:

Nikica Jelavic: 5/10

Brought on with seven minutes left in the game and could not really impress in such a small amount of time.

Enner Valencia: 6/10

Replaced Alex Song just after the hour mark to add more quality and aggressive intent to his side’s performance, as they looked to push for a goal.
