Why Isaac Hayden can finally kickstart his promising career at West Brom

Isaac Hayden in an English youth international central midfield player who currently earns his living at the St.James’ Park on Tyneside. He was a product of the Arsenal youth academy and came through the ranks.

He has represented the Gunners at U18 and U21 level but wasn’t given first-team opportunities in the league. He did make 2 appearances for the Arsenal first-team – albeit in the EFL Cup. He was loaned out to Hull City at the start of the 2016/17 campaign to gain some much-needed experience and develop into a mature player.

After this loan spell, Arsenal finally sold the youngster to Newcastle United where he has been playing since. He has made a total of 76 appearances in his two and a half seasons at the club, assisting 4 goals and scoring 3.

A defensive midfielder by trade, Hayden is a tall player who is adept at moving the ball around. His passing and vision are both impeccable while he also possesses a very powerful shot. He can find through balls extremely well and is more than capable of distributing to the runners using some neat passing.

His size is also a selling factor as he does well to win the ball back often. He also has a solid jump which hoists him above opposition midfielders to win headers.

West Bromwich Albion have had an excellent start to the Championship season. They have collected 46 points from 26 games this season, sitting at 4^th place just 5 points behind leaders Leeds United.

Just 3 points separate them from Norwich City, who are at 2^nd place. Reports from the Mirror are now suggesting that Hayden could well be on his way to the Hawthorns. Darren Moore has deployed the experienced duo of Gareth Barry and James Morrison in the defensive midfield role with 29-year-old Jake Livermore providing back-up.

With Barry aged 37 and Morrison aged 32, West Brom need a young defensive midfield option who can compete with these players for a regular starting role.

Hayden could fill this gap at the Hawthorns with great ease as he has the skill and the mental strength to play for a side like West Brom. While they are currently at 4^th place, they will be looking to push leaders Leeds United until the last day.

While it’s impossible to have too much back up for a midfield position, Hayden may just be the kind of player Moore needs to turn West Brom’s season up a notch.
