Vydra to start, Weimann at LWB – Strongest 3-4-2-1 Derby County XI to face Fulham in playoffs

Predicted Derby County Line-up To Face Fulham In The Championship Playoffs

Derby County achieved the result that they needed at the weekend and they have made it to the Championship playoffs. They will be absolutely delighted that they are in the mix for promotion to the Premier League. This will be a massive game for them, against one of the best teams in the league. It will be interesting to see which way it swings.

Fulham come into this on the back of a very strange loss to Birmingham – their first loss in the league since last December. They are strong enough mentally to put that result aside and come back strongly for this game.

Probable Derby County XI

Manager: Gary Rowett

Formation: 3-4-2-1

Scott Carson (GK)

Carson has been fantastic for Derby this season. He didn’t have the best of times against Barnsley and will be disappointed not to have kept a clean sheet. However, he will be raring to go for this playoff challenge.

Richard Keogh (CB)

Had an excellent game against Barnsley and looks more and more comfortable on the ball with every game he plays in this back-three. Will be looking to lead from the back.

Curtis Davies (CB)

Davies has been one of the best centre-backs in the Championship this season but will be challenged in this game, coming up against Mitrovic. Derby fans will be hoping that he wins the battle.

Andre Wisdom

Craig Forsyth (CB)

Forsyth moved back to central defence against Barnsley and did well. He has come on leaps and bounds since his injury that kept him out of the squad for a while.

Andreas Weimann (LWB)

Weimann has been moved back into the wing-back position for the last few games when Olsson has been subbed off. He has proved himself in this position and may well start there to allow Vydra into the squad.

Andre Wisdom (RWB)

Andre Wisdom has been fantastic since moving into the right wing-back position. He is good when going forward and has carved out some great chances for his team.

Tom Huddlestone

Tom Huddlestone (CM)

Huddlestone has had a good season in the Championship. A sure starter for this crucial game.

Bradley Johnson (CM)

Johnson had a fantastic game against Barnsley and really controlled the midfield. Playing alongside Huddlestone has been great for him and he really thrives in this combative, tackling role.

Tom Lawrence (LAM)

Lawrence seems to be up for the fight at the moment. He’s always a threat with his direct running and will be looking to get on the scoresheet once more.

Matej Vydra

Matej Vydra (RAM)

Has had to settle for a super-sub role in the last few games but surely deserves a place in the squad for these important playoff games. The top-scorer in the Championship and is unplayable on his day.

Cameron Jerome (ST)

Jerome was, once again, fantastic at the weekend and is probably the main reason that Derby are actually in these playoffs. Will be hoping that his hot streak continues!
