West Bromwich Albion are currently in a run of form where everything hasn’t gone their way. Darren Moore’s men are currently fourth in the Championship table, seven points behind the automatic promotion places, but still in the mix to feature in the playoffs at the end of this season.
Even though the Baggies are one of the front-runners to get back to playing Premier League football a season after they were relegated, squad improvement in certain areas is a must.
One of the problems with the current squad is the lack of wingers. Harvey Barnes starred fantastically well in the first half of the season at left-wing, but he was called back by his parent club Leicester City in the January window.
They brought Jefferson Montero and Jacob Murphy on loan deals, but it is pretty clear that they are not long-term options in the team.
Hence, the Baggies need to be active in the summer transfer window to search for wide attacking players. Here are two options they can target:
Predominantly a right winger, Cavaleiro can play on the left and also as a centre-forward. The Portuguese hasn’t featured much for Wolves in the Premier League this season, starting just five games despite being one of the main men in their promotion push last year.
West Brom should test the resolve of Nuno Espirito Santo’s men by making a bid in the summer window.
By the evidence of this campaign, Cavaleiro is way down the pecking order. Hence, if the Baggies offer him a first-choice role, they would have a good chance of landing the player.
Since the arrival of Miguel Almiron, Atsu has been behind in the selection order. The front three of Ayoze Perez, Salomon Rondon and Almiron is doing a good job for Rafa Benitez’s men.
With Jacob Murphy expected to return tl St. James’ Park after his loan spell, the Baggies can offer a deal to Atsu.
