Two Players Who Could Quit Arsenal Along With Alexis Sanchez In January

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal are, for the first time under the Frenchman, not entertaining Champions League football but this is only a part of the problem for the Gunners, as the season progresses to its most important phase. The Gunners are still to finalise the contracts of a number of star players, who are out of it at the end of the season.

Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez, who according to many fans, has not had enough of an impact at the club this season, could be heading towards the exit door in January, as Arsenal look to avoid losing him on a free transfer in the summer. But he is not the only player in the squad that could quit the Emirates come January.

Here are two such players who could follow the former Barcelona man out of the club in the winter transfer window.

Jack Wilshere

The English midfielder spent the previous season on loan at the Vitality Stadium and had a decent time. He came back to Arsenal at the end of it and is now in the final year of his contract, with the Gunners trying to negotiate a new deal. He has made just 7 appearances this season in the Premier League – 5 of them off the bench, and is desperate for some game time. At 25, he needs to be the first choice for the club he plays for and could decide to quit Arsenal come January.

He has started the last two games in the Premier League but has been given no assurances of his future and Arsenal will be forced to sell him in January if he decides not to extend his stay. He is too valuable a player to leave for free and Wenger could be looking for a destination which could be profitable for the club.

Theo Walcott

The former Southampton winger is easily one of the most experienced players in his position in England at the moment but has not been able to break into the first team under Wenger this season. He has been confined to starts just in the cup competitions and with the World Cup coming up, Walcott will want to move to a club with more first-team chances on offer.

He is yet to start a game in the domestic league, but has 3 goals and 2 assists in 5 games in the Europa League, which will see him attract the interests of a lot of clubs in England. He is out of a contract at the end of next season and does not need to be sold. But if he’s not given promises of first-team game time, Walcott will only want to quit Arsenal in January.
