Worst Transfers

Keirrison

The Brazilian Keirrison was signed in 2009 from Palmeiras for £10 million. He was loaned out to Benfica, where he disappointed extremely and with a lack of opportunities that came his way, Barcelona decided to ship him out to Fiorentina in January 2010, where he made 10 appearances, scoring 2 goals in the process.

However, that loan move also ended prematurely and he next moved back to Brazil to play for Santos where he flattered to deceive again. After two more temporary spells with Cruzeiro and Coritiba and after five years, Barcelona finally decided to wash their hands off him and Keirrison moved permanently to Coritiba in 2014.

Five years, not a single appearance for Barca, he is definitely one of the worst transfers the Blaugrana have ever made, without a doubt.

Dmytro Chygrynskiy

Barcelona brought in defender Dmytro Chygrynskiy for a fee of £18 million from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in 2009 and was highly rated by the then Blaugrana manager Pep Guardiola.

Chygrynskiy came in with a history of injury troubles and things did not go well for him at the Camp Nou as he spent most of his first season on the sidelines, hampered by injuries. The Ukrainian international featured only 12 times in that season and was sold back to Shakhtar ahead of the subsequent season by new president Sandro Rosell for around £10.8 million, despite Guardiola wanting to retain him.

Barcelona took a substantial loss on the player who only played a handful of times, which warrants Chygrynskiy’s place on this list.
