Top Three worst Strikers in the EPL after Bendtner’s “naive” comments

Well Fools day doesn’t come every day in the year. But when it does, we love a merry laugh, sometimes even ridiculing ourselves for that matter. The self proclaimed “Greatest Striker in the World” currently came out on the media and spoke of his desire of leaving Arsenal, where is currently rotting warming the bench on the sidelines. “Real Madrid or Barcelona is where I want to play”, was how major tabloids quoted the Dane. The Daily Mail quotes and I am on the same page with them: What happens in the future is anyone’s guess (though it is extremely likely this WON’T happen), but the Dane will surely be leaving the Emirates Stadium within the next year.

After Bendtner’s naive comments, I just got so ridiculed that I decided to provide  a list which in our opinion consists of three of the worst Striker sever in the EPL Era. Yes! We haven’t spared legends either.

3. Andriy Shevchenko:

Andriy Shevchenko

Signed for a massive £31 from AC Milan, Andriy Shevchenko was to be Chelsea’s number nine for years to come and was reckoned to be the driving force behind the Stamford Bridge’s side of raising the bar when it was all about going our on the field and display the mesmerizing football every fan wanted to witness. However, some things in life rarely turn out right and Sheva as he was fondly called played only two season scoring a meager nine goals before he was sent on loan to AC Milan. Sheva however remains one of the best strikers ever to have graced the game, but his unspectacular failure in the EPL will always be the focal point when it comes to his achievements. Someone who scores 175 times in 322 appearances in AC Milan colours is certifiably not an ordinary player  by any means.

2. Juan Sebastian Veron:

Veron

Not once, it was twice! The fact that I have added him to the list despite being a central attacking midfielder is due to the unceremonious price tag attached to him. Veron played 51 games for Manchester United scoring seven goals overall. Despite him being described as one of Argentina’s best players ever produced, the stats were very ordinary for someone like him.  Veron never adapted to the Premier League, and was a weak link in United’s world class midfield.  Veron was later sold to Chelsea, where he managed seven league games for the club, scoring one goal. Tipped to be a world-class midfielder, the Argentine never put his mark on the Premier League, with Sir Alex Ferguson later admitting that signing Veron was simply a mistake.

1. Jamie Mackie: QPR fans know this song very well:

Jamie Mackie

Boy, can that lad Jamie Mackie run! He runs down the left. He runs down the right. He runs down the middle. Got a lost cause? Mackie will chase it. I admit folks that he is one of the most hardworking players ever to have graced the Premier League, but that’s not his job. He hardly failed to “find” ( that’s a better word for him instead of hit) the target and perhaps goes down in the books as one of the worst ever to play in the center forward role. As for stats, at one point of time he had an “astonishing record” of scoring just two goals in 1637 minutes on the pitch. Phew, that will take some beating!
