Bournemouth 0-4 Liverpool: The Reds go top of the Premier League table

Liverpool romped to a 4-0 victory against Bournemouth in the Premier League. After Man City’s 2-0 loss to Chelsea, the Reds are on top of the Premier League table. The Reds were very much calm and composed in their display as Mohamed Salah scored a superb hat-trick on the day. The Egyptian opened the scoring in the 25th minute after latching onto the rebound after Asmir Begovic saved Roberto Firmino’s initial effort.

Liverpool went into the break a goal up and returned to immediately score the second in the 48th minute. It was another combination of play from Firmino and Salah, with the former teeing up the latter to slot home. Salah kept on going despite being tugged back by Steve Cook and did well to find the back of the net.

The Cherries did test the Reds’ backline occasionally but they were always up for it and soaked in all the pressure. Goalkeeper Alisson Becker made a superb clearance with his head as well, showing just how confident he is at the moment.

Steve Cook then gave away an unfortunate goal as Andy Robertson’s cross ricocheted off the defender and creeped into the back of the net. The Scottish international was in fine form on the night. Robertson was unlucky not to pick up a couple of more assists and was above par defensively.

Klopp then made a couple of quick substitutions that saw Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane come in. The Reds continued to ask questions of the Cherries backline and ultimately found the back of the net once again through a brilliant Salah goal.

The Egyptian latched onto Adam Lallana’s lofted pass before beating Cook for pace. He then rounded Asmir Begovic but took the ball just a little too wide only to round the goalkeeper once again before calmly slotting it into the back of the net.

Jurgen Klopp will surely be pleased with his side’s display on the day, especially without defender Joe Gomez in the side. Liverpool are going to have to make do without the English centre-back for at least a month. But for now, they can rejoice the fact that they are at the summit of the league.
