Top Five Players In World Cup Qualifying

With as much as twenty teams booking their berths for the Next year’s World Cup, we here at Soccer Souls decided to pick the top five players in qualifying so far. While you will be surprised to find not some familiar names in the list, there are others who pick themselves in the list. So here are your top five players in the quest for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying so far:

Arturo Vidal (Chile):

This Juventus midfielder is perhaps the best man to protect your back four in the world currently. From making late runs into the box to tracking back to help out his defence, this Chilean is perhaps the perfect epitome of the best box to box midfielder in the World currently. Always willing to give his body on the line, Chile will need him to fire if they are to make any impact in next year’s world cup in Samba Land. What more when you someone in your ranks who can shoot from distance and has a very efficient work rate.

Phillip Lahm (Germany):

When Pep Guardiola says, “Lahm is the most intelligent player I have worked it”, you bet it must be true. I was away to Munich for a week to view Bayern’s match against Viktoria Plzen in the Chmapione League and my word was I astonished with his unimaginable work rate. Wherever the ball is, you will see Lahm there. Whether it’s charging down the flanks or protecting your defence or providing crosses, the Bayern Munich Captain has all in his locker. Be rest assured, if Germany go all the way next year, Lahm will be in the thick of things.

Javier Mascherano (Argentina):

Usually deployed as a centre back in Barcelona colors, Mascherano is sure to play the holding role for Argentine in next year’s world cup. Apart from Lionel Messi, I am for certain he is the most important member for the South American outfit. Always willing to go into the tackle and running the extra mile, Mascherano will work his socks off for his team. The former Liverpool man always does his job to perfection, and perhaps will set the platform for Argentina to attack and will be a pivotal man in the hostile surroundings of Brazil next summer.

Yaya Toure (Ivory Coast):

A monster in midfield and perhaps the most important member of the Ivory Coast squad, Yaya Toure is a an astute player whom any manager will love to have in his starting eleven. Ivory Coast face Senegal in the playoff match to determine who goes to Brazil next summer, and Toure will be a key player in the two-legged tie. His set pieces awareness and the strength of a bull that he possesses will in itself determine the outcome.

Luis Suarez (Uruguay):

The controversial Liverpool striker leads his country’s all time top goal scoring list and is our last and final pick of the list. A mesmerizing dribbler with unbelievable deft and precision who can change any match on its head, Luis Suarez will be in full flow come next summer if Uruguay overcome their final hurdle to qualify for the World Cup 2014.
