What an amazing game week it has been so far, the talk of the town was Jurgen Klopp getting his first win as Liverpool manager at the expense of Chelsea. Reports suggest that the Blues boss was sent closer to his exit from the London club. The performance of the weekend must go to Everton who notched up six goals past Sunderland with Kone scoring three of them.
Arsenal and Manchester City continued their dogfight at the top of the league with contrasting victories while Manchester United struggled to beat a spirited Crystal Palace and drew 0-0. We look back at this weekend’s top five passers thanks to Squawka.com.
1. Fernandinho – Manchester City
Often vilified for his role in the team, this season Fernandinho has been one of the most consistent players for the other team from Manchester. City weren’t impressive in their win over Norwich, requiring a late penalty from Yaya Toure, but Fernandinho was the best passer from the weekend fixtures. The Brazilian completed 117 passes with a 96% accuracy rate and two key passes.
2. Ross Barkley – Everton
Everton were on fire against Sunderland and although they were pegged back by the Black cats that levelled the scores at 2-2, the forwards absolutely ripped into the Sunderland defence in the second half. While Barkley didn’t get on the score sheet, he was instrumental for the Toffees in midfield with 99 successful passes and a pass accuracy of 94%, he even recorded three key passes in the game.
3. Gareth Barry – Everton
Gareth Barry might not be the dynamic midfield he once was with Aston Villa, but he has been doing a decent job controlling the game for Everton. The midfield was also impressive in his role as he racked up 88 successful passes and recorded a pass accuracy of 90% during the game.
4. Yaya Toure – Manchester City
Toure might have scored one of the most important goals of the season, but he was brilliant in midfield also. Toure provided 87 successful passes in the game and also had a pass accuracy 91% as he helped Manchester City to a big win over Norwich City.
5. Bacary Sagna – Manchester City
Another Manchester City making it into the list, this one might be a bit of a surprise, but Bacary Sagna was one of the best passers in this game week. The defender completed 81 passes during the game and had an accuracy of 90% with a couple of key passes thrown in for the French defender.
