Top 5 Torres Replacement For Chelsea Including Rooney And Ibrahimovic

Share

With the misfiring Fernando Torres not improving under Jose Mourinho, a replacement must be bought to save Chelsea and the Spaniard from any further embarrassment.

1. Wayne Rooney

Rooney to Chelsea?

Jose Mourinho is admittedly a fan of the Manchester United man, and with the England international refusing to sign a new contract at Old Trafford, we could well see him swap red for blue as early as January. With 8 Premier League goals this season, he has more than Chelsea’s 3 front men combined, and could be a good signing for the Blues, though he would not come cheap, and they could sign a far superior player for the price.

2. Radamel Falcao

Falcao

An unlikely option he may be, Chelsea are a team that should be aiming for the best, and there are few better strikers in the world than Monaco’s record signing. It is rumoured that if any club is to make a serious bid for the former Atletico Madrid man, they will need to stump up a huge sum that will put off the likes of Manchester City, and PSG, but as Manchester City already have Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero and Stefan Jovetic, he will not be needed at the Etihad, and as Paris Saint Germain is the home of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani, it is unlikely they will be interested either. So, Chelsea should go for him.

3. Karim Benzema

Benzema

Having already worked under Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, Benzema should fit into the Chelsea first XI without much bother, and will already know what the Portuguese tactician expects from his front men. With rumours circulating that the France international is looking for a move away from the Bernabeu to kick start his career after encountering a rough patch, and Chelsea could offer that to the former Lyon man. Though he has come under scrutiny for flopping in a similar fashion to the man Mourinho is looking to replace.

4. Rodrigo Palacio

It isn’t known if Chelsea would be interested in the Inter Milan man or not, but after asserting himself in Serie A with the Nerazzurri and Genoa, he could be targeted by some of the biggest clubs in the world outside Italy, as it is unlikely Napoli would be interested, and even more so that they would sanction his sale to Juventus. He would be the cheapest option at around, and as Inter boss Walter Mazzarri has asked new owner Erick Thohir for a new striker, Palacio could be on his way out.

5. Zlatan Ibrahimovic

A player who has always stated that he is not attracted to the Premier League and has rejected Arsenal and Manchester City in the past, it is unlikely he would change his mind now, especially when his club Paris Saint Germain are at their strongest, and Chelsea are lacking any killer instinct at the moment. It may be unlikely, though a dream for Chelsea fans, and also likely that Premier League fans of all clubs would love to see the big Swede in England.
