Top 5 Premier League Debutants This Season: Featuring Liverpool And West Ham Stars

Share

The Premier League is one of the toughest leagues to play in, it is extremely quick and you do need to be made of stern material to survive in the league. Even players who have been part of the league for years struggle to come to terms with the pace and physicality of it at certain points in their career.

The clubs though have a ton of money and are always looking to get the next big star to come into the league and perform to their best ability. We provide a list of five stars who have been incredible in their first season in the Premier League this season.

5. N’Golo Kante

While Vardy and Mahrez have rightly got a lot of praise but it is another player who has come from Caen and has taken the league by storm. Kante has been just as important to Leicester’s rise as the other players named earlier.

Kante has looked like a player who has been in the Premier League for the entirety of his career and that is a great mark for the 24-year-old who wasn’t really known for much last season, how time changes for players.

2. Virgil van Dijk

Well, he has played in the United Kingdom but moving from Scotland and playing in the Premier League is a completely different ask for most players but Van Dijk has done extremely well for them after joining Southampton.

He is great on the ball and seems to be a good buy from Ronald Koeman, certainly he does know how to scout players and getting the 24-year-old on a bargain certainly has worked out for Southampton.

3. Angelo Ogbonna

Well, being a former Juventus player certainly does have a few perks but no one expected Ogbonna to do this well for the Hammers having moved away from Turin. The 27-year-old defender might not have been the most talked about player from West Ham but he has been solid at the back.

The Italian though seems to have slotted in so well in England it seems that he has played in the league for a long time, certainly a good first season for him and for the Hammers as well.

2. Roberto Firmino

The Brazilian did not have the brightest of starts for Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers but he has turned a corner under Jurgen Klopp with his recent performances. Firmino has scored six goals and six assists this season, not bad for someone not from the league.

The 24-year-old has been a star for Liverpool in a stop-start season but he should get better with this season and hopefully next season as well.

1. Dimitri Payet

Undoubtedly the star of West Ham’s season so far, the French forward was deemed as an expensive buy from West Ham since he never played for any English side prior to his stint in London.

The 28-year-old though has shown how good he is on the ball and how he can control games and change things. Payet seems to be the guy who does everything right for West Ham and it won’t be a surprise if he does move away to another club next season.
