Top 5 Most Improved Players (EPL) This Season: Featuring Ex-Liverpool Winger And Tottenham Stars

Share

The Premier League is an ever evolving league, players come in and go out faster than those visiting a mall on Christmas eve for last minute presents. Players in the Premier League have to be giving their all and doing their best to not only keep their team in the mix but to stay in the starting line-up or else they could be shipped out in the next transfer window.

With the new players coming into the league constantly, there are often a lot of players who for the fear of losing their place or by just finding the right club or right boots end up playing out of their skin and here we present the 5 most improved players in the Premier League this season.

5. James Tomkins

Last season was a dire one for West Ham United fans as they were incredibly upset by not only the position of the team but also the way they played. The team was exposed a lot last season, especially at the back but this season has been a different story, especially their defence.

James Tomkins has been at the heart of everything good at West Ham, especially the defence, there was a time when fans would be worried about just how Tomkins would be able to deal with other players, now it is the opposition that worries as to how they can deal with Tomkins.

4. Christian Eriksen

Late goals = Eriksen, that is the one slogan we can use on the Danish player this season, Eriksen has made it a habit to score late goals for Tottenham and helped them win a number of games. He has scored 9 goals this season in the league, with quite a few free kicks being taken brilliantly.

He looked a little frail last season but this season, he has played out of his skin and has helped Spurs rise up the table as they challenge not only for a top 4 position but also the Europa League.

3. Nathaniel Clyne

nathaniel clyne

The rise of the Southampton side can be credited to Ronald Koeman and one of the stars of this season for a club who lost almost all their best players last season has been Nathaniel Clyne. The English right back has been exceptional this season and apart from doing well at the back for the Saints, he has also scored 3 goals this season.

Thanks to his performances for the Saints, they are in the shout for a Champions League position and he will make it to the England squad for the upcoming games.

2. Stewart Downing

The former Liverpool winger had a pretty awful time at Anfield. Doubts over not only his ability but his overall game and price tag had weighed hugely on his shoulders and it was not surprising to see him move away to West Ham after one season under Brendan Rodgers.

Last year might have been a bedding in process for the Englishman but this season he has shown just what he is capable of, he has scored 5 goals and provided 7 assist for West Ham, in a season where the hammers have been brilliant. Downing, playing through the centre has been so good this season that there have been calls for him to be included in the upcoming international games for England.

1. Harry Kane

Harry Kane – Tottenham

This might be a bit of a cheat in this list as Harry Kane was pretty good at the end of last season but this season, the Spurs hitman has been in incredible form. He has scored 13 goals and provided 3 assists in the Premier League and has had a couple of brilliant performances for Spurs against Arsenal and Chelsea.

Kane has improved so much this season that pundits want the English team build around him, he is the perfect centre forward, has great stamina, chases and closes down the defence and can score goals, what else do you want him to do? Play in goal? Well he has done that too.
